Our Heavenly Butter

31 March
Early Bird Prompt to kick off NaPoWriMo: write a poem in the form of a love letter . . . to an object.
This poem is dedicated to Helen Paulsen.

Our Heavenly Butter

Our Butter, which tastes of heaven,
Our hips swear you’re to blame.
Thy melting-fun
On popcorn done, adds girth
Which doth zippers threaten.

Give us this day our daily bread
To spread you thick, with even passes,
As we forgive clothes for squeezing against us.
And lead us not to refrigeration,
`Cause hard butter is evil.

Waistlines be the victims!
We’ll devour all your glory
On whatever whenever

Forever and ever.
